TECHNICAL DATA

As part of the expanding Focus RS product range, AIRTEC Motorsport launches the Stage 2 intercooler upgrade suitable for track or street use.

To ensure there is no noticeable loss of performance during long periods of hard driving, a larger, smoother intercooler has been developed as a direct replacement for the smaller, more restrictive OEM item.

The solution to increase the size and performance of the intercooler, within the constraints of the limited space behind the bumper, is based on a 65mm core which is twice as tall and almost 100mm longer than the standard item. This offers a massive increase in overall capacity compared to the stock intercooler, as well as a 127% increase in frontal area compared to standard, allowing it to make the most of the airflow provided. To ensure this, the vent pushes cold air through the core for more efficient airflow.

Together with high-flow end tanks and air diverter scoop to ensure flow is directed correctly and efficiently, the AIRTEC Motorsport intercooler offers much greater efficiency and volume than standard.

TESTED
Test carried out at Jamsport to measure subsequent intake temperatures

AIRTEC Stage 1 intercooler

Air temperature in the intercooler: 141 degrees
Air temperature outside the intercooler: 34 degrees

AIRTEC Stage2 intercooler

Air temperature in the intercooler: 149 degrees
Air temperature outside the intercooler: 26 degrees

Power gains of 20 HP at medium speeds.

This is thanks to the transition from Stage1 to Stage2.
