The complete charge air cooling solution for the Porsche 997.2 Turbo / Turbo S
This kit comes at a flat rate price and includes our motorsport intercooler and a high flow Y-pipe with all hoses and installation accessories. To further allow better engine breathing, together with these products it is possible to purchase our compliant intake ducts.
The MERA intercooler kit and Y-pipe are great products on their own. Used together they generate a notable reduction in inlet temperature, lower back pressure throughout the system and therefore enable greater power.

Regarding intercoolers:
MERA as in plus, means more cooling, better airflow, more performance. Simply, MERA!
When launching this intercooler kit in 2016, we chose to use a Tube&fin core, which allows for great cooling and airflow combined with low weight. It has proven itself very well over the years, featured on various 1000 HP builds. In the fall of 2021 it is time for the next phase of the ongoing development of do88 products. After extensive testing, we chose to upgrade to a Bar&Plate, an engine-grade Garrett core, thus taking this already highly effective upgrade to the next level.
Differences compared to our previous version:
The core is new, but the end tanks and all accessories are the same as before. The intercoolers feature cast end tanks that distribute the airflow over the entire core very precisely. This is very important as good tank design will be beneficial to both pressure drop and cooling efficiency. In order to fit an intercooler of adequate thickness for the job, it was also necessary to design a new upper ambient air guide. This was designed in our 3D scanned environment to ensure the perfect fit to the air guides integrated into the vehicle, as well as the intercooler. To further eliminate bottlenecks, the intercooler connections are 70 mm (2 3/4 inches) to allow unrestricted air passage. This also means that new tubes are included for each position, all designed in 3D with maximum airflow in mind. All tubes are CFD tested to ensure this. The tubes on the turbo outlet are made to high temperature specifications. material, rated at a continuous temperature of 240°C (464°F). To truly take advantage of all the ambient air that transfers the heat, the carbon ducts are equipped with adequate seals towards the body, forcing all the air to pass through the core and not escape around it.
All in all, the weight increase over the OEM units is relatively small considering the size of the intercoolers and the fact that it is a dense all-aluminum structure. The weight of our intercooler is 8.45 kg (18.10 lb) per piece and the OEM 997.2 intercooler weighs 3.30 kg (7.27 lb) per piece. As much as this may seem in terms of weight gain, it is more than well compensated when we consider the performance gain that these intercoolers provide!
About the Y-tube:
Presented to you is the result of extensive research, many hours on the drawing board, and numerous 3D visualizations and 3D prints. The do88 Y-tube is the way to go for those larger numbers when you want to eliminate all restrictions in the system, allowing for great airflow paired with low weight! The Y-tube is made from lightweight mandrel-bent tubing with a high-quality, free-form designed 3D cast joint between them. There are CNC machined connections for BOV and breather tubes on the jet manifold.
This construction adds a lot of performance but just a little extra weight. The do88 performance Y-pipe weighs 1.52 kg (3.35 lb), the OEM plastic pipe weighs 1.38 kg (3.04 lb), and a competitive cast performance pipe comes in at 2.76 kg (6.08 lb)!
As a finishing touch, the Y-tube is coated with a high-quality powder coating that makes them look as good as they perform! You can choose between the more discreet semi-gloss black and a fresh metallic silver finish.
Performance:
When it comes to performance, the do88 bigpack significantly reduces intake temperature! The graph below shows the difference compared to the OEM 997.2 units. Data is collected with an AIM race recorder in 5 consecutive runs in immediate sequence. Full throttle accelerations between 50 and 250 km/h (30-155 mph) in a Stage 1 tuned Porsche 997. No cooling in between, just maximum boost. During each test, the car was driven in Sport Plus mode, with air conditioning turned off.
The test was conducted as follows:
First of all, 5 laps were carried out with the car equipped with an OEM intercooler. Stop, quick change of do88 intercooler components. Shakedown for a few minutes and then 5 steps done exactly like with OEM parts. The decrease in inlet air temperature is significant, the peak delta is 18°C (32.4 F) see graph below!
Cooling is important, as is airflow. After many hours of development, refining the final tanks and choosing a core to meet our request, the result is a much more efficient intercooler in terms of heat transfer and air flow. Using our in-house Superflow SF-1020 probe bank, airflow is verified as a complete system with intercooler, hoses and Y-pipe for both the do88 bigpack and OEM 997 units. What you see is what you get: real performance!
