VAG 2.0 / 1.8TSI EA888.3 MQB TTE485 IS20 TURBOCHARGER UPDATE

TTE485 is the latest performance upgrade hybrid turbocharger, based on the original IHI Hitachi IS20 turbocharger for the third generation VAG 2.0TSI found in the VW Golf 7 GTI and many others. TTE485 Offers IS38 Stage 3 hybrid power, with great coil and response.

Designed and improved EA888 Gen 3 – IS20

To build a TTE485 they changed the stock compressor, employed a much larger and more efficient billet wheel with extended tip technology, and milled the compressor cover to the optimum clearance to fit the new profile of the compressor. Replaced the original IS20 turbine and CNC milled the turbine housing to install a larger, lighter 9-blade turbine for increased gas flow. Also replaced the original thrust bearing for the in-house made 360 ​​degree TTE upgrade.

The deleted TTE CNC silencer is also mounted. Modification of the turbo exhaust silencer, removal of the original baffle internals and installation of a new straight section, eliminating any restriction and its function as a noise canceling device, thus improving the flow and sound.

The 9 Blade TTE turbine is a special turbine designed by TheTurboEngineers. The benefits are increased gas flow, reduced back pressure and lower exhaust gas temperatures, allowing for higher and safer boost levels. This turbine is extremely light in mass, so it offers a low moment of inertia, which means fast winding for the size.

Balance


Precise balancing of turbochargers is a key factor in becoming a TTE upgrade unit, as longevity and performance are key. Good balance also improves acoustics. Great attention is paid to all TTE turbochargers to achieve the high balancing standards. First the parts are balanced at low speed up to 2800 RPM in multiple planes using our single parts machine, then the components are assembled and the CHRA is dynamically balanced, but this time depending on the application up to 250,000 RPM in multiple planes using the VSR system to acquire maximum balance, to a standard far superior to the OEM. Each turbocharger comes with a serial numbered balance test results document.
