Airtec Motorsport upgraded auxiliary radiators for DSG or engine coolant, suitable for use on the track or fast road.
During long periods of track or fast road use, particularly for cars with higher horsepower, both the DSG transmission oil and the engine coolant may reach temperatures that are too high to provide sufficient cooling protection properties. As a result, there is a risk of damaging the transmission and/or engine, so the car""s ECU will automatically limit the torque output of the engine and prolong the gearbox""s shift times, which makes it noticeably less responsive. It can also cause permanent damage if it constantly overheats.
AIRTEC Motorsport""s solution to improve the operating temperatures of the DSG and engine is to increase the size and capacity of the original auxiliary radiators, mounted behind both sides of the bumper. Using the available space, a wider and thicker replacement radiator was developed. This means capacity is increased by a whopping 67% over standard, while the frontal area is also increased to help sufficiently cool the extra capacity.
The core also features a quad-pass design, which forces incoming coolant to pass up and down the core four times before it exits, increasing the amount of time the coolant passes through the radiator to further reduce temperatures. The result is a radiator capable of staying cool for longer.
The radiators fit perfectly behind the bumper and only require a small cut of the original air duct to fit, otherwise the original OEM brackets and coolant connectors are used. To protect the larger radiator mass from road debris, there is also a (removable) stone guard.
Finished in a high quality black powder coated finish, the assembly kit includes all accessories and a detailed assembly guide.
