Description
This is our intercooler for Mk7 Golf, MK7R, Audi TT MK3 2.0 TSI and S3 (8V chassis) equipped with EA888 2.0 TSI engine. The Volkswagen Group changed virtually everything from the Mk6 chassis to the Mk7 chassis, so this core had to be designed from scratch to fit the redesigned radiator and condenser.
Reduced turbo lag, greater response
Designed for VW Golf GTI (Mk7) for perfect fitment
Larger overall surface area for greater heat dissipation
Using a race spec, Forge Alsus designed an air core with plate and bar construction
High flow cast end tanks ensure optimal air transition for cooling efficiency
Power tested on the dyno and torque gains
Provides a smoother power curve
Dimensions: 650x420x50mm
Includes necessary hardware and installation instructions
Designed for performance and reliability, the core adapts to the stock location, meaning cooling is radically improved over OEM. Our test Golf Mk7 GTI achieved 16 hp more without any other modifications, while also demonstrating a consistent temperature drop of 25-30°C (77-88°F compared to stock on the dyno, with all runs performed on the same day with only 2°C change in ambient temperature during runs (in fact it was 2°C higher when we tested the Forge core). The core measures 650x420x50.
You can also see the temperature drop comparison of blank and Forge cores in the graph below.
The warehouse core typically increased in temperature by 5°C with each subsequent run, with heat becoming a real problem after just three runs. The stock ECU was pulling timing and increasing timing after just one run – typically any inlet temperature above 40°C will cause the ECU to change ignition timing to accommodate – and the stock core peaked at 60°C on its first run, where the Forge core was able to bring temperatures back under control after each run so that at the end of 4 consecutive runs the core temperature had only increased by 4°C.
All this was achieved on a production car (it should be noted that although Volkswagen claims 220 HP for this new engine, we have seen examples ranging from 230 to 240 HP completely stock, on the same road in motion). We are confident that the core will continue to deliver a much lower intake charge temperature than stock in all states of tune, as it is based on our award-winning Mk5/Mk6 intercooler which has been fitted with great success to everything from street to track cars, to full-blown racing and drag cars.
The core comes in a satin black powder coated finish and includes all mounting hardware needed for installation.
