Description
Why do you need an earthing kit? The problem with groundig the standard ignition coils. The factory camshaft cover is made of soft aluminium and is therefore not the best material for long-lasting threads. Regardless of how careful you are when removing or installing your ignition coils, the thread on the screws of your ignition coils is subjected to a great deal of stress each time it is removed or installed. Your ignition coil uses these screw to ground the circuit of your ignition coils. Even if the threads are only slightly damaged, damage to this connection leads to a weaker ground connection. This usually results in misfiring, a delay in ignition timing or weaker sparks. The screws are often removed and installed when the ignition system is being serviced or the engine is being tested. For example, when replacing spark plugs, ignition coils, carrying out compression or leakage tests or similar. In VAG vehicles, oval screws are also used, which exacerbate the problem the more often they are removed and installed. Our solution: With our kit, you install a permanent ground for your ignition coils, to the stud behind the battery. This eliminates the risk of weak, loose or damaged grounding. The new round screws, which are included in the kit, still need to be removed to dismantle the ignition coils, but it is no longer necessary to double-tighten the screws to ground the circuit. The thread will therefore be less stressed in future and the risk of a weaker ignition is reduced. The round screws are also much better for the longevity of the thread in the valve cover. Our kit contains: 1x ground wire. 1x tool to remove the pins. 1x electrical grease. 4x M6x45 screws. 4x cable ties. Attention! There are two different kits for the 2.0 TSI EA888 Gen. 3 vehicles, depending on which part number of the coil connector you have. The number can be found on the coil connector. Please choose between 8K0971994 or 4D0971994. Vehicles from 2016 onwards usually have plugs with part number 4D0971994, vehicles before 2016 usually have 8K0971994. However, we recommend checking this in advance. To check, you need to disconnect the ignition coil connector from your ignition coil pack. On the underside of the connector you will then find a series of characters under the VW/Audi logos. The first three characters are either 4D0 or 8K0. This will tell you which version of the kit you need for your vehicle.
