The conversion kit to roller tappets has the advantage that the cam contact surface is much larger than the original cup tappet. As a result, the force can be better distributed and there are fewer friction and shear forces at one point. Broken pump cups are now a thing of the past. breaking the pump bowl can irreparably damage the cam on the camshaft. Therefore the intake camshaft must be completely replaced. Additionally, chips caused by the defect can fall into the oil pan. There the balance shaft module is located together with the oil pump. Damage to this module usually causes serious engine damage.
Another advantage is the better guidance of the pump piston. This prevents the high pressure pump from leaking. The high pressure pump shaft seal can leak over time and fuel enters the oil circuit. As a result, the oil loses its lubricating properties and damage to the connecting rod bearings occurs!
