TECHNICAL DATA

AIRTEC Motorsport is proud to present the front mount intercooler upgrade for the VAG MQB EA888.3 platform.

This freer-flowing intercooler is a direct replacement for the smaller, more restrictive OEM setup.

Suitable for the following vehicles:

  • Volkswagen Golf Mk7 / 7.5 R – 2.0 TSI
  • Volkswagen Golf Mk7/7.5 GTI incl. Clubsport and Clubsport S – 2.0 TSI
  • Seat Leon Cupra 265/280/300 – 2.0 TSI (not compatible from 2018 onwards).
  • Seat Leon – 1.9 / 2.0 TSI
  • Audi S3 8V (Hatchback and Sedan variants) – 2.0 TSI
  • Audi TTS 8S – 2.0 TSI
  • Audi TT 8S – 1.8 / 2.0 TSI
  • Audi A3 8V – 1.8 / 2.0 TSI
  • Skoda Octavia vRS – 2.0 TSI

Featuring a 60mm core design along with high-flow die-cast end tanks, the AIRTEC intercooler offers much greater surface area, efficiency and volume than standard. Despite this improvement, it fits perfectly with the original bumper, requires no trimming or cutting and can be used with the original tubes.

As with all AIRTEC products, the intercooler has been tested back-to-back on the OEM item""s dynamometer. This showed a huge reduction in air charge temperatures compared to standard.

Our test car was equipped with a Cobra cat-back exhaust system and Revo Stage 1 software.

The stock intercooler temperatures reduce to an average of 64 degrees and reach a peak of 68 degrees (after 5 consecutive runs). On Stage 1 Revo software, the car struggled to produce a peak power increase of 40 hp, due to the restrictive and inefficient VW OEM intercooler that was unable to effectively cool intake temperatures.

With the AIRTEC intercooler fitted, the IAT saw a whopping 120 degrees drop, keeping temperatures much closer to ambient and proving more reliable race after race. This gave a huge performance boost, shown by the dynamic test results below.

Test results taken @ AmD Rolling road:

Before the AIRTEC intercooler was fitted, the car produced 336.1 hp and 350.9 lb/ft of torque

After the intercooler was fitted, it produced an impressive 371.8 hp and 352.9 lb/ft

  • Standard intercooler:
    • Test 1 – IN 115 degrees, OUT 44 degrees
    • Test 2 – IN 117 degrees, OUT 48 degrees
    • Test 3 – IN 118 degrees, OUT 52 degrees
  • AIRTEC intercooler:

    • Test 1 – IN 116 degrees, OUT 18 degrees
    • Test 2 – IN 117 degrees, OUT 20 degrees
